WA Solicitor General joins LSC as an observer

Date issued: 23 January 2019

The Legal Services Council (LSC) is delighted to welcome the Western Australian Solicitor General, Mr Joshua Thomson SC, as an observer at LSC meetings in 2019.

The LSC Chair, the Hon Michael Black AC QC, extended an invitation to the Solicitor General following advice from the Western Australian Attorney General, the Hon John Quigley MLA, that Mr Thomson is assisting him in the process of Western Australia becoming a participating jurisdiction under the Uniform Law scheme.

As an observer at LSC meetings, the Solicitor General is able to observe the work of the LSC, report to the WA Attorney General about the operation of the Uniform Law and provide input from a Western Australian perspective.

Mr Thomson has already attended a Council meeting in late 2018 in Melbourne and will attend the next meeting in March 2019 in Sydney. The LSC looks forward to Mr Thomson's continuing involvement at its meetings and generally in 2019.
