CEO's end of year message

Date issued: 18 December 2017

As the end of the year fast approaches, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has made me feel so welcome in my new roles as CEO Legal Services Council and Commissioner for Uniform Legal Services Regulation.

While we are now focusing our attention on matters for the coming year, I wish to acknowledge and thank my predecessor, Dale Boucher, for overseeing a number of important projects that were completed this year. Some highlights include:

More detail on all of these and other achievements can also be found in our Annual Reports 2016-2017.

Since I commenced with the Legal Services Council in October 2017 I have had the pleasure of meeting key members of the legal profession, senior staff from both the Victorian Department of Justice and Regulation and the NSW Department of Justice, as well as Australian legal regulators and representative bodies. I look forward to meeting many more of you in the coming months. I am keen to listen and to take into account your feedback and concerns about the Uniform Law and look at ways we can work together further unite the legal profession across Australia.

On behalf of the Chair, the Hon. Michael Black AC QC and the Legal Services Council, I wish to thank all our stakeholders for their valuable contributions during the year and for the ongoing spirit of cooperation and collaboration. I would like to wish you and yours a joyous Christmas and warm wishes for the New Year.
